Welcome fellow bloggers! When I heard about Sew, Mama, Sew!'s Giveaway Day, I thought it might be fun to participate and meet new people. So here I am, giving away my very first thing!
I first started sewing as a little girl. My mom taught me counted-cross stitch and signed me up for a sewing machine class. At the time, it didn't really stick. But here I am--more than 20 years later--loving it! I reconnected with sewing because of my dear friend Cobble. About a year ago, we decided to take a quilting class together and the rest, as they say, is history. I've found that my absolute favorite part is choosing fabrics and playing with color combinations. Browse through my blog to see.
Up for the winning is one gathered clutch (made following the tutorial from Noodlehead). I'm working on my giveaway clutch right now, so I don't have a picture to share, but here is a picture of one that I made for my sister:
*Update: I've selected and cut the fabrics for this clutch. I can't wait to see the finished product... it should be cute when it's done!
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment introducing yourself and sharing a little bit about your own crafting history. I will choose a winner after 3PM EST on May 26th (make sure that your email address is on your blog/profile so that I can contact you).
Yes, I'll ship internationally!
Do I count? My name is M's.

ReplyDeleteI am Sonja and have lived in lower Alabama all my life. My love for crafting (especially sewing) came from my mom and grandmother. They both are excellent seamstresses and I can remember, from a very early age, loving the smell of fresh new bolts of fabric and the sound of a running sewing machine.

My grandma taught me to crochet when I was in about 4th grade and my aunt taught me cross stitch in the 5th. I started really machine sewing April 2010 when I had to make throw pillows and I haven't stopped yet.

ReplyDeleteYellow polka dots! Sorry, got distracted...
ReplyDeleteI started cross-stitching when I was 12. That first one remains undone, but I've done plenty others since. I started sewing and quilting a few years back, but am still firmly in the "dabbling" category for those. :)
How cute! :) My grandma taught me to sew when I was in 3rd grade. I still love it! Just opened my first etsy shop online selling aprons. Having a great time networking and meeting others who love the sew as well! I joke and say that it's cheaper than therapy. But as a stay at home mom, I need to do something fun for myself once and awhile. Nap time is my time to do that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

I've always been attracted to all things artsy, but it wasn't until this past year that I've really gotten into crafting. I've learned nearly everything I've needed to know for projects from reading blogs. Right now I have been mainly focusing on sewing projects for babies. I'm hoping to learn to do other things with sewing and hopefully dabble some in knitting and quilting.

ReplyDeleteI have always love to craft. I started with crocheting as a child making my first blanket at 10. I got away from it as a teenager, but when I became a mom I got into sewing and self taught (with some help from MIL and mom) my way into loving sewing and doing it everyday!!
Oh, I love this clutch tutorial! I want to make one too.
ReplyDeleteI don't know when I started crafting. I know my mother sewed and did some crochet. I always tried to learn but I never got into until a few years ago. Since then I have just exploded into the crafting side of life. I spin yarn, make book and I am starting to do some pottery too.
Thanks for the chance to win this cute clutch. I can't wait to see it all put together.

So far I've made a case for my laptop and awesome ninja turtle hats.
I have been sewing since I was 12 I made my wedding dress and all of my prom dresses. But for some reason I flunked sewing in high school. More recently I reconnected with crafting when my boss had a baby and I made her a custom collegiate themed burp cloth. I had been longing for something productive while my husband studied for the CPA and realized just how much I love crafty kind of stuff!
From there it's been a wonderful journey into sewing, quilting, crochet, bow making, made a valence, baby blankets and such and I just love it!
thanks!

ReplyDeleteMy name is Deborah and I live in Atlanta, GA. I'm 58 years old, and I made my first quilt when I was 52 years old when my granddaughter was born. Since then I've only made maybe 4 or 5 quilts, so I'm still very much a beginner and learning something every time I sit in front of the sewing machine. It would be awesome to win something that has already been made and doesn't require me sitting down and figuring out how to do it. This prize would truly be a gift to me.

ReplyDeleteI am new to the crafty world. I grew up in a distinctly NON-crafty household, but after having two, and then three, kids, I decided that I didn't want them to grow up like that. So, I'm slowly slogging my way through learning. I've made a few articles of clothing for members of the family, and am finishing a quilt. I'm also desperately trying to learn to crochet (I'm a decent, if slow, knitter) but man oh MAN that's hard! :)

I started sewing for my little girl (training pants!) and have been learning more and more over the past few years. Love to try new things - I am just starting hand embroidery to dress up some of her plain clothes.
ReplyDeleteI love the noodlehead clutch. :) Let's see, my mom taught me to sew when I was six. I got a sewing machine for Christmas that year (I still have it, 22 years later), and my mom says I sewed on it for three days straight. She also taught me basic crochet, and just a couple of years ago I learned how to knit, after wanting to for YEARS. I have so many little crafting stories my mom has told me, and I love remembering them and sharing that with her.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely giveaway!
Oh, that fabric is so pretty! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI learnt to sew when I was a child, then forgot it for a decade or so, and taught myself again when I was at university as I was fed up of sleeves always being too short for me (I'm quite tall). These days I make lots of vintage styled garments, mainly from the 1950's - so much fun! :-)

Thanks for sharing and the chance to have a sample of your passion. This is such fun!

ReplyDeleteHi, My name is Carla. I've been crafting ever since I can remember. When I was small, my aunt, grandmas and mom would have a quilt set up in the livingroom and handquilt it all. But I wasn't old enough to help... So I guess its in the genes, but I taught myself to sew & I'm in the process of learning to quilt on my own. Thanks for a chance to win your giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteI've always done crafts with my mother. I am especially interested in card-making, scrapbooking, sewing, and repurposing common items. I wouldn't say I'm expert at any of these crafts but I sure do enjoy them. Thanks for the chance to win. :)
