Cool as a Cucumber

Coolest. plant. ever. These sticky "tendrils" grow out from the vine and find the nearest thing to grab onto. As you can see from the second picture, the tendrils wrap themselves around tightly and then literally corkscrew themselves (like a telephone cord) to pull the vine in close to the lattice. Is that awesome or what?!

  1. Neat, they are looking pretty cool. Did you set up some sort of lattice, or are they just attaching to anything near by? Any baby cucumbers yet?

  2. No lil ones yet :-p

So I have a wrought-iron trellis that they are growing up. It tends to reach for other near-by things, but I just detach those tendrils to try to keep it in check :)

  3. I love how you guys think this plant is cool and all I can think about is that it has a mind of it's own and how creepy that is! I mean you have to keep a plant in check?? What would happen if you weren't there to keep it in check? Ahhh the horror!

  5. E... I was thinking the same thing! Don't worry! This is precisely the kind of plant that might creepy into my room at night and strangle me for not watering it enough or something!
